Our Story
The Gift of Conscious Giving....
Ours is a story of compassion, connection and consciousness. The consciousness to know that the abundance we have been blessed with is to be shared. Compassion, to feel the suffering of those with little hope or opportunity, and the knowledge that our gift is being offered with the intention of true heartfelt connection. It is a story of humour and playfulness, being careful not to take ourselves too seriously and to share our respective stories with a smile.
We have travelled to many developing countries searching for ways to help support programs for women, children and the elderly. Our objective is always to participate in the creation of sustainable communities through creative initiatives that will give participants an opportunity to see and feel their own value. Seeds have been planted in several communities through empowering projects that are growing today, providing sustainable income and, more importantly, dignity to villages and communities both at home and in the third world.
Our non profit, Beefun Women’s Society offers support in the form of hope and opportunity to several of these projects. A collaboration of women’s and youth groups making baskets and gift cards in Uganda, challenged women on the Vancouver Downtown Eastside making all sorts of special chocolate treats, kids and adults with varying challenges and abilities at the Funny Farm in Langley coaxing our bees to make honey and beeswax for candles and soap, men carving honey spoons and prayer beads, teenage boys learning to harvest coffee in Honduras, coffee supporting orphans in Guatemala, teenage boys being mentored in carpentry while building out wood candle hearts; and tea produced sustainably and supporting Kenya… all with love in their hearts…dreams in their thoughts … and empowerment to be experienced.
Our journey has provided the the most rewarding gift we could have imagined- we have shared our love, laughter, tears and hugs with people in our own backyard on the farm, on the streets of Vancouver, and in remote villages, ghettos, and Refugee Camps around the world with the simplest of all messages……WE CARE…
Whether you are purchasing a gift basket or receiving one as a gift, please, take a moment to share in the love in which it is made. The women, men, orphans, local youth and the miracle of Mother Nature and her honeybees, all smiled as they offered their gifts. Let’s smile right back at them.
We all benefit when we open our hearts to allow the story of compassion, connection and consciousness to be our own story and to choose to be one be kind..
Many hugs…
